THE ROLE OF FRIENDS & NEED FOR PRIVATE SUPPORT

Time has taken its toll on many historic monuments, decorative iron work, and the natural landscape of Hollywood. Descendants of many families no longer exist to care for their own monuments, even those of great historical significance. With the aid of conservation consultants, Hollywood has identified and ranked monuments and ornamentation most in need of repair and enhancement. Current income and endowment alone can’t cover the care and conservation of historic or noteworthy components requiring attention. Nor can they ensure the long term beautification of the cemetery. Private philanthropy is essential to promote an appreciation of Hollywood and help preserve it for present and future generations.

Friends of Hollywood Cemetery

...was created in 2007 to fill just such a need. Friends is committed to keeping Hollywood a relevant and vital part of our community through conservation, preservation, and education. We seek tax-deductible gifts for designated preservation and restoration projects and for engaging educational programs, and are eligible to accept gifts from company matching gift programs. No gifts will be used to support ongoing cemetery activities. Your generous private support will ensure that countless visitors continue to enjoy Hollywood as Richmond’s spectacular, open-air museum, replete with its tales and stories spanning generations.
